Summary: motif finding in bacteria
We found many new and significant upstream DNA motifs in 17 bacterial species
Conserved motifs can be found more easily by combining upstream sequences of homologous genes from closely related bacteria.
At least 27% of known E. coli DNA regulatory motifs are conserved in H. influenzae or B. subtilis.
There are also a number of cases with new and different motifs upstream of the same sets of genes in other species.
