PERL : Protein Engineering Research Language

Perl is an easy and powerful language of general purpose and it is extremely useful for Bioinformatics. It has a rich set of sequence handling functions with various easy utility functions. It is probably the largest programming language ever created due to its modules which becomes nearly inherent to the language. I think it is a very easy and good language for Biologists.

Bioperl (the attempt to make more general and easy perl module for Biology)

George Fuellen's Bioperl site (this is where the most active work is being done!)
Bioperl does not have to be in OO form. As long as it can provide necessary tools for Bioinformatics field that is fine. It is recommanded to check George's OO modules site first.
You can contribute to this project by using other people's module, donating your buggy codes etc. It is originally meant to be open and free and it should be like that continuously.

Perl Subroutine database for Biology. (developed subroutines available).

This is meant to be converted to more organized OO form to be integrated to Bioperl, but I have never had time so far.
Also, for some people who do not care about OOP, it is possible to copy and use in their perl codes.

Perl Programs from Biomatics Lab

fetch : fetches any sequences from Swissprot or fasta format DB of your choice.
compile : compiles perl code to C and then to Binary
columns.pl : manipulates columnar data.
count.pl : simplest, easiest www access counter for your web pages.
